Being a student of the Bible and the Spirit, I am frequently asked questions about the nature of God. Many people question His motives and character when they read the Bible. Some tend to humanize him and it is common for us to think that he thinks like we do.We see the condition of the world and wonder why he allows such evil things to happen ,and often judge Him as being unfair. While I do not pretend to know everything about Him and his nature, I do know that everything he does is right, even if we do not understand it. He uses our bad decisions and wrong thinking to his advantage, to perform His works and His redemption plan for planet earth.
But indeed ,O man,who are you to reply against God? Will the thing that formed say to him who formed it, “why have you made me like this? Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?” Romans 9
Paul is being questioned about this creative God whom has all power, and yet the majority tends to not only question HIM, but also reject HIM.
Examples of dishonor:
The first one that I look at is the Egyptian Pharaoh. It is plain that he was a vessel of dishonor, yet God used him as a mighty example to us and to further his kingdom. ” For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.” Romans 9:17
We also think of King Saul and Judas and many others in scripture that seemed to be chosen for dishonor. I am here to tell you that in my humble opinion : There was evil in these men’s hearts from the very beginning! God will not break our will ,we always have choice, but he can and will use it for His purposes, as he sees fit.
It is also very clear in scripture that God would allow the wicked to attack His people as a sign to them, and it is even clearer that He turns and smites the wicked and destroys them after they do so. This is a very perplexing concept for human beings to understand. Many nations feared the God of Israel (Genesis 12:17) (Daniel 6:26) (Deuteronomy 11:25) (2 Chronicles 20:29)
Times have not changed, man still believes they can by pass God and work iniquity . They believe they will not be found out. They believe by what they see with their eyes, not the spirit.
Do not be a vessel for dishonor against the kingdom of God. Nothing on earth is worth the shame these people will know on that final day.
If God is hardening your heart, it is because you were already against Him. He has just decided to use it to His advantage. And He will.
For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen; as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: Thy reward shall return upon thy own head. Obadiah 1:15
